Who I Am
POET. SONGWRITER. STORYTELLER. PHYSICIAN.
Long before I wrote songs, I wrote poems.
Some of those poems eventually became songs. Others sat quietly in notebooks for decades, waiting for the right melody to find them.
I’m Amos “MoS DeF” Raymond — a songwriter, producer, and lifelong observer of people. For more than twenty years I’ve practiced medicine in Memphis while continuing a lifelong habit of writing about the things that matter most: love, loss, faith, family, perseverance, and the moments that quietly shape who we become.
The melodies came later.
A poem written in 1999 became Sweet Tattoo. Reflections on enduring love eventually became Again. Many of the songs in my catalog began not as commercial music, but as personal observations, love letters, journal entries, and conversations with myself.
Memphis didn’t change what I wrote about.
It changed how deeply I was willing to feel it.
My work spans Contemporary R&B, Soul, Country Soul, Acoustic Soul, Gospel, Indie Soul, Spoken Word, and Cinematic Storytelling. In 2026 I released multiple projects comprising more than thirty-five original compositions, including Love Made Me and We Are Shelby: A Memphis Soul Suite.
Across the catalog, you’ll hear recurring themes of devotion, resilience, redemption, community, and enduring love. Much of that inspiration comes from a twenty-six-year marriage, raising a family, serving patients, and living long enough to understand that the most powerful stories are often the most ordinary ones.
For music supervisors, producers, and content creators, the catalog is One-Stop cleared with master and publishing fully controlled. Full WAVs, instrumentals, alternate arrangements, and broadcast-ready edits are available.
I use modern production tools to bring decades of ideas to life while maintaining full creative direction and authorship. Every song reflects my creative direction, authorship, arrangement, and final artistic judgment. The rights are clear. The music is ready.
I’m interested in projects that value authentic storytelling.
Because the right song doesn’t simply support a scene.
Sometimes it becomes the scene.
If one of these songs feels like it already belongs in your story, let’s talk.
